A few years ago, there was a brilliant video making the rounds. It answered the question, “What would happen if Microsoft designed the packaging for the iPod?” The answers are hilarious and predictable, and they illustrate the difference between mere information and successful communication.
The coolest part of all this is that the video was actually commissioned by Microsoft itself. But although the Microsoft folks are apparently willing to look at their weaknesses as communicators, I don’t observe that they’ve been as willing to go the distance in changing how they talk to the public.
Anyway, enjoy.
